Potluck & Play Reading

Annual Gateless Writers Potluck Dinner and Showcasing of VT Writers’ Work

Featured Work: Excerpts from a new play by Lauren Feldman

This coming Tuesday, August 18, at the Gateless Writers Annual Summer Gathering, I’ll be sharing an excerpt from my new, untitled, full-length play about the training, passions, relationships, and experiences of a group of student circus artists. With a community of other writers reading the roles aloud, the focus will be on sharing the new text in a safe, supportive artistic community and celebrating the birth of a new rough draft of a brand new play, with its characters, themes, questions, and playworld. The Gateless Gathering (which is all about the written word and the draft in process shared joyfully with community) will begin with a potluck, followed by a 20-30 minute excerpt of the new play read aloud and a brief post-reading conversation to share what’s working, how things are landing, what questions and ideas are alive in the play.

The event is free to attend and open to Gateless Writers and the general public, but you must reserve a spot with Suzanne Kingsbury (suzannekingsbury@gmail.com). The venue is in Westminster West, VT and is ADA accessible. An address will be provided as confirmation of your reservation.

This project is supported in part by the Vermont Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.
